On March 20 and 21, 2023 in Brussels, AZAS’s General Secretary Kiril Gjozev attended the SAA general assembly, as an invited observer. At the meeting there was a large representation of audiovisual authors from all over Europe. The main discussion of the meeting was to exchange information on how to advance the rights of European authors.
Our General Secretary used the opportunity and during his stay had several bilateral meetings with representatives of international societies such as with:
Barbara Hayes, Chair of the board of directors at SAA, Belgium
Victor Romano Blasco, General Director of DAMA Audiovisual Media Copyright, SPAIN
Cécile Despringre, Secretary General Society of SAA, Belgium
Gregor Štibernik, Managing director of AIPA, Slovenia
Dominik Skoczek, Director of SFP-ZAPA, Poland
Lirak Çelaj, Managing Director of VAPIK, Kosovo
Andy Harrower, CEO of Directors – United Kingdom
Juerg Ruchti, CEO of SSA, Switzerland
Jan Barták, Director of DILIA, Czech Republic
Jana Vozárová, Director of LITA, Slovakia
During these bilateral meetings AZAS’s General Secretary had a chance once again to explain the current ongoing situation in which AZAS is stacked almost five years and it was mutually agreed that the international support as always will be there for AZAS and its members.
Mrs. Hayes, Chair of the board of directors at SAA, explained the importance of having AZAS in their member list as soon as possible and once again offered SAA’s support for moving forward with the reforms in North Macedonia.
This was another great experience that is primarily aimed at fully advancing our work and protecting the rights of our authors.
We look forward to many more such and similar meetings that will certainly bring success.
