AZAS at VAPIK Ceremony: A Step Toward Fair Recognition for Audiovisual Creators

Pristina, August 5, 2025 – A historic moment for the audiovisual community took place in Pristina, where VAPIK officially made its first transfer of royalties to copyright holders. The ceremony gathered artists, producers, and representatives of cultural institutions, marking the beginning of a new era in fair compensation for creative work.

Among the attendees was General Secretary of AZAS, Mr. Kiril Gjozev, who welcomed this achievement and expressed the expectation that AZAS will soon follow VAPIK’s example. His presence highlighted the importance of regional cooperation and the shared mission to strengthen copyright management in the audiovisual field.

Speakers at the event stressed that this act goes beyond legal compliance – it represents moral recognition of art as a profession. The highlight came when the Acting Minister of Culture handed over the first official confirmation to a distinguished creator, symbolizing concrete respect for audiovisual rights.

AZAS sees this as a guiding model. Mr. Gjozev expressed hope that Macedonian politicians will be encouraged by VAPIK’s success and will finally move to unblock the long-standing delay in approving AZAS’s tariff list, so that Macedonian audiovisual creators can receive the fair compensation they deserve.
