Can we talk about a state strategy in our country when it comes to the creative industry, if we consider that the cultural and creative industries are one of the priorities of the European Union in recent years?
Does North Macedonia keep pace with the new innovative models in the world, what are the possibilities of access to financing, are just some of the topics that were discussed at this year’s International Forum of Creative Industries, which gathered more than 20 participants from the region and Europe.
Within the framework of the forum, a meeting was held between the General secretary of AZAS, Kiril Gjozev, the Minister of culture Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojčevska, together with the director of AIPA, Gregor Štibernik, Philip Kern, director and founder of KEA for European Affairs- Brussels, and Martin Kaf, the advisor for creative industries and tourism to the prime minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić. At the meeting, the main topic of discussion was the importance of the creative industries, their sustainable development and their contribution to the domestic economy.
The Minister of Culture indicated that important steps are being taken to affirm and truly valorize he potential of the creative industries sector, through which we not only strengthen culture and art, but also the industry.
“Creative industries are a significant part of the Strategy of the Ministry of Culture, and with the new Law on Public Interest in Culture, which changes the way of defining, supporting and financing culture, we are also introducing new cultural activities in the field of creative industries”, said Kostadinovska-Stojchevska at the meeting. Kern and Cuff indicated that the commitment and activity of the Ministry of Culture to promote the importance of the creative industries as “the most powerful economic weapon” was recognized, giving full support to the development of the creative industries at various levels. Gregor Štibernik from AIPA mentioned that the collective management organizations can act as a partner to the government in developing the creative industries as they contiribute a lot in the cultural development, act as a supporters of the local culture and at the same time as a good ambassadors to the country globally. He mentioned the new Slovenian strategic plan for the development of the audiovisual industry by 2030 and give to the Minister a brand-new printed edition as a gift, which our country can use and rely on in the next period.
The Minister of Culture Kostadinovska- Stojčevska opened the International Forum of Creative Industries with her address on the topic: “Sustainable entrepreneurship in the creative industries”, organized by the Union of Macedonian Professional Associations in the Creative Industries UMPAKI Skopje.
As part of the Forum was one panel Panel discussion: The Role of Collective Management Organizations – The Importance of Having an Active and Valuable CMO. What are the benefits and how important they are for authors, performers and producers? As well as a workshop – everything you wanted to know about copyright and related rights management and haven’t had a chance to ask, on which were present Macedonian film professionals, representatives from the Ministry of culture and other stakeholders.
